Many people accept that buying a second-hand car is a better deal than getting one brand new off the forecourt, but that doesn’t mean that people don’t have specific models or brands in mind when they’re hunting for a used vehicle.
Autotrader recently revealed the most searched cars on its platform in 2017, with the BMW 3 Series topping the list. According to the publication, this isn’t surprising, given the range of options when it comes to this car, as well as the fact that it’s “been an excellent car for a very long time”.
In second spot is the Volkswagen Golf, which is a good option for anyone who can’t quite stretch to the price of a 3 Series.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Ford Focus and the BMW 1 Series rounded out the top five. The publication noted that a Ford Focus is a good choice if you can’t afford one of the higher-end models in the list, noting that it’s “easier on the wallet, fun to drive and cheap to look after”.
Completing the top ten were the BMW 5 Series, Ford Fiesta, Audi A3, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Vauxhall Astra.
Of course, if you’re buying any used car, you need to make sure that it’s in good condition and is safe to be on the roads. Aside from checking the MOT and service history, there are a few other things to consider if you’re looking to pick up a used car.
Autotrader recommends carrying out a vehicle history check, to make sure it hasn’t been written off or stolen, as well as stating that you should never buy a car that you haven’t seen and examined carefully.
If once you’ve got your new wheels you want to get it checked for your own peace of mind, book in car servicing in Hillingdon so that you know exactly what, if anything, needs to be done.
